Every vegetarian restaurant in Fortune Centre

The building's reputation rests on these kitchens. A floor-by-floor run through the vegetarian and vegan options, and what each one is for.

People come to Fortune Centre from across the island for one reason, and it is not the accountants. Here is the vegetarian roster, floor by floor.

Level 1

Su Shi Piao Xiang (#01-01) sits on the outside of the building, closest to the temple. It is the cheapest food in the block — cai fan, kway chap, lor mee, all allium-free — and it opens at 7am, earlier than almost anything else here.

Xing Hua Vegetarian Restaurant (#01-07) does Xing Hua-style Chinese vegan. Claypot rice and the crystal bun get mentioned most often. Check the bill against the menu before you pay; a number of diners have flagged discrepancies.

Herbivore (#01-13/14) is the Japanese one, and probably the building's best-known name. Fully vegetarian, everything can be made vegan, and the tempura soba and avocado maki carry the menu.

Tian Yuan Healthy Vegetarian Food Paradise (#01-16) is a small family stall running a different noodle special each day, low in salt and oil, ginger-based soups. Under $10.

Living Wholesome Vegetarian Food (#01-23) and Xin Yuan Vegetarian Trading (#01-25) round out the floor, the latter also selling frozen vegetarian goods to take home.

Red Apple Veggie Cafe (#01-32) and Tracy Juice Culture (#01-34) sit at the far end. Tracy's is nominally a juice stall, but the mushroom udon is what people actually queue for.

Level 2

Green Bliss Habitat (#02-01) does vegetarian zi char — duck hor fun, scissors rice. Pine Tree Cafe (#02-13/21) is yong tau foo and mala, run by an exceptionally warm crew. Moon Chay Vegetarian (#02-27/28) is Vietnamese, and the most polished room on this floor.

Level 3

Bodhi Deli (#03-26/27) is the local-hawker specialist: vegetarian chicken rice, wanton mee, lu rou fan, mee siam, laksa. Cheap, fast, consistently good. Seva Cafe (#03-19) is vegan and allium-free, with a following for its nasi lemak and its cakes.

Level 4

New Green Pasture Cafe (#04-22) is the organic option and roughly double the price of everything else in the building — bento sets, lei cha, millet porridge. Little Nonya's Cookies (#04-10) is the sleeper: vegetarian Peranakan, buah keluak la mian, and nonya kueh that sells out by early afternoon.

Not strictly vegetarian, but worth knowing

Cookie & Coffee Bar (#01-28B) and Mama Patisserie (#01-34) both run largely or entirely eggless and dairy-free ranges, which matters if you are avoiding animal products rather than just meat.
