Why so many accountants work at Fortune Centre
Levels 9 to 17 hold one of the densest clusters of small accounting and corporate services practices in central Singapore. Here is the roster.
Ride the lift past Level 8 and the building changes completely. The upper floors are offices, and they are dominated by one trade: accounting, tax, audit and corporate secretarial work.
The roster, floor by floor
Level 9 — Chua and Lee Associates LLP, Chartered Accountants (#09-06), sharing the floor with K.T.S Singapore, Pacific Bunkers and Sun Field Global.
Level 10 — YBP Assurance PAC and Progressive Services (#10-01), 1-Credit Hub (#10-01A), D. Arumugam & Co (#10-03), IC Singapore (#10-04/05).
Level 11 — Ignatius J & Associates (#11-05) and Christopher Chuah Law Chambers LLC (#11-04A) bring the legal side.
Level 12 — C M Lee & Co. Chartered Accountants (#12-02), ACC-Link Management Consultants (#12-07).
Level 13 — YBP Public Accountants, Progressive Corporate Services and Progressive Services all at #13-01; YCS Management & Consulting and WorldBiz Management Services at #13-02.
Level 14 — Koh Management Services and H.C. Koh & Co. Certified Public Accountants (#14-02); Philip Liew & Co., PLC Tax Services and Liew Secretarial Services (#14-05); Shafiq K & Co (#14-08); TLL Management Consultants (#14-08A).
Level 15 — Chua Secretarial & Management (#15-02), Plus LLP (#15-08).
Level 16 — the largest concentration in the building. Units #16-01/02/03 house Robert Yam & Co PAC, WL Wong & Co, Winston Loong & Co, Robert Yam – H.C. Koh LLP, Aca Management Services, Astute Management and Robert Yam, Rao & Associates. Vantage Advisory Partners is at #16-07.
Level 17 — Ang & Co PAC and Lee Boon Song & Co PAC (#17-05), Pace Corporate Services (#17-06).
Why here
Three reasons, and none of them are glamorous.
The first is ownership. These are strata units, sold individually. A two-partner practice can own its office outright rather than renew a lease every three years, which matters enormously to a business whose main asset is a client list and whose main cost is people.
The second is location. Bencoolen MRT is four minutes away and the CBD is one stop further, but the rent and the price per square foot are not CBD numbers.
The third is gravity. Once a handful of practices are in a building, more follow — staff move between firms without moving house, work gets subcontracted across the lift lobby, and shared units become normal. Several of the entities listed above sit at the same address because they genuinely share space and people.
If you are looking for a firm
Start with the Offices & Others directory, which lists every unit with a phone number where we have one. Almost none of these practices advertise. Most take clients on referral, and most will not have a website worth reading.
