Hair, nails and facials at Fortune Centre

Around twenty small salons, most of them one-chair operations run by their owner. Cheaper than Orchard, and you deal with the person cutting.

The beauty trade here works differently from a mall. Almost every salon in Fortune Centre is a single room with one or two operators, usually the owner. There is very little hard-selling, prices sit well below Orchard, and the trade-off is that almost everything runs by appointment.

Hair

Ivy Rupef Studio (#03-09) is the colour specialist — balayage, bleaching, straightening — run by a husband-and-wife team since 2016. They brief clients thoroughly before starting, including asking you not to wash your hair for a few days beforehand.

Gorgeous129 (#03-14A) is a Thai salon on Level 3 with a single stylist. Cut, colour, perm, and a long head massage. Call ahead; there is only one pair of hands.

Jackie Beauty and Hairstyling Salon (#03-18) is the old-school option — looks dated, experienced staff, no hard sell. Spakks Hair Studio (#02-02) and Beauty Fang Hair Salon (#04-07) are the other cutting rooms. Hairisma Studio (#03-08A) operates weekends only, strictly by appointment.

Nails and lashes

Snail Art (#02-20) does hard gel and detailed custom designs — bring a reference photo. Rose Nail (#03-07B) is on Level 3.

Just Youth Lashes (#03-17) covers lash extensions, ombre brows and scalp micropigmentation, and holds one of the highest ratings in the building.

Facials and skin

Le Queenz (#02-11) has clients who have stayed with the same beautician for five years and more; extraction-focused, appointment only. Bellco Beauty House (#02-32) works with clinical skincare ranges. Face D'esthetique (#03-15), Hikari Wellness Beauty (#03-14) and Emmanuel Beauty Care (#03-35) sit on Level 3.

Level 4 carries the rest: Choli Face n Body Spa (#04-04), Jennifer Chai Unisex Beauty Salon (#04-05), Lively Beauty Care (#04-06), Chia Beauty (#04-29) and Beautique Palace (#04-31). POLA (#04-03) and Lady Care Shop (#04-02) sell product rather than services.

Two things to expect

First, WhatsApp is the booking channel for most of these, not a phone call and almost never a website. Second, several close one weekday — Sundays and Wednesdays are the common ones — so check before making the trip.
