Level 4: the quiet food floor
Four escalators up, and most people never make it. Curry puffs, nasi lemak and soup curry, sharing corridors with TCM halls and beauty rooms.
Level 4 is the top of the podium and it is noticeably calmer than the three floors below. The food up here is as good as anything on Level 1, with a fraction of the crowd, because getting here means four escalator rides and most people give up.
Worth the climb
Hong Lim Curry Puff (#04-15A) and Little Pandan Nasi Lemak (#04-15B) are the two newest arrivals and both are excellent. The nasi lemak in particular — fragrant coconut rice, crisp-edged fried egg, a sambal that is sweet before it is hot — has one of the highest ratings in the building.
Little Nonya's Cookies (#04-10) is vegetarian Peranakan: buah keluak la mian, pong teh, and nonya kueh that goes early. Coffee arrives with a cookie on the saucer.
Soup Curry occupies three units up here (#04-13, #04-19A, #04-19B), which tells you how well it does. Ramen Story (#04-27) is the Japanese option. Miss Sai Gon (#04-14) does banh mi and Vietnamese iced coffee. Ahma Noodles (#04-12) and Hao Lai Wei (#04-16) round out the run.
New Green Pasture Cafe (#04-22) is the organic vegetarian restaurant — the most expensive food in the building by some distance, roughly two to three times the Level 1 stalls, and it is upfront about why.
Bellies (#04-24) is a craft drinks bar.
Health and beauty
The other half of Level 4 is treatment rooms. Guang Zhou Pang Jin Chinese Medicine Hall (#04-01) has been practising here for decades and is the sort of place people return to for twenty-five years. Jin Fu Kang TCM Therapy (#04-26), Four Seasons Therapy (#04-32), Sun Moon Health Center (#04-17) and a second Shande TCM unit (#04-33B) cover massage and treatment.
Choli Face n Body Spa (#04-04), Jennifer Chai Unisex Beauty Salon (#04-05), Lively Beauty Care (#04-06), Beauty Fang Hair Salon (#04-07), Chia Beauty (#04-29) and Beautique Palace (#04-31) are the beauty operators. POLA (#04-03) and Lady Care Shop (#04-02) sell skincare.
The rest
Yu Zhu Gallery (#04-18) is a well-regarded crystal shop. Free Buddhist Book Amituofo (#04-20A) gives away sutras. Yulin Holiday (#04-11) is a travel agency, Fortune Claw (#04-30) is a claw machine arcade, and the Singapore Heart Foundation (#04-34) runs a wellness programme from this floor.
